The Company increases the value of acquired properties in its core areas through a combination of exploitation drilling and proven engineering extraction practices.
DRI is currently looking for a Senior Geologist in our Plano, Texas Headquarters. The position will report to the Manager of Geology for Mississippi and Alabama.
The Senior Geologist will be responsible for work in the Production/Development side and be involved in the mapping of our dated oil fields, determining and deciphering old data and new data – making technically sound estimates of each territory. The ideal candidate has a strong background in researching old (paper) data and as well has a knowledge base of new technology.
Required Experience:
General Duties:- Mapping and data management skills at the large field level
- Generate accurate work and be detailed oriented
- Integrate production and engineering data for CO2 flood analysis
- Work efficiently and meet project deadlines on multiple projects
- Recommend new drills and workovers
- Work effectively in a team environment with operations and reservoir engineers
- Minimum BS degree in Geology
- 8+ years active exploitation (production geology) experience
- Gulf Coast experience a must
- Mississippi Interior Salt Basin experience a plus
- Proficient in Geographix (geoatlas, cross-section, prism and well base)
- Ability to do basic seismic interpretation in SMT a plus
- Possess good analytical, communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Ability to conduct detailed reservoir evaluations and studies. Ability to integrate geological and geophysical data into reservoir engineering calculations. Ability to accurately solve problems. Ability to make valuable contribution to team goals and objectives. Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public. Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities through effective time management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner. Ability to integrate data from different sources into model reservoirs. Excellent administrative and organizational skills Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Required: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Nodal analysis, and public data retrieval. Preferred: Microsoft Access, Aries economic software and/or other reservoir engineering software tools, well log evaluations, risk assessment, PETRA, Rate Transient Analysis (RTA), Power Tools, and CAD.
Qualifications:
Ten (10) years minimum experience (with a preferred concentration in the Gulf Coast Region) in geological oil and gas development and/or exploration, and a proven ability to generate multiple investment opportunities. High-level proficiency with onsite open hole evaluation and problem solving. Working knowledge and some practical experience of the role and job responsibilities of Reservoir and Operation Engineers, Landmen, and other company professionals in order to accomplish team goals. Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic interpretations to generate economically justified investment opportunities for the company. Ability to accurately solve problems. Ability to make valuable contribution to team goals and objectives. Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public. Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner. Project management, administrative, and organizational skills. Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Required: PETRA or other Geologic database and mapping software. Education Requirements:
Required: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in geology. Preferred: Masters Degree from an accredited university or college with a degree in geology. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Preferred: Membership in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Division of Professional Affairs (Certified Petroleum Geologists), and local geologic society(ies).

- Seeking a Geoscientist and a Production Engineer who are extremely knowledgeable about the Permian Basin. Location: Houston. Qualifications as follows:
1) A geoscientist with 15-20 years of experience (in geology and geophysics) mostly gained in the Permian Basin. The individual will work on assets in the Permian Basin (West Texas and SE New Mexico) to identify recompletion potential and new drill sites in these assets. This individual is expected to be able to use seismic software for mapping and interpretation, read various logs and use all other sources of data for his work. Knowledge of the geology and performance of various formations of the area is a must.
2) A production engineer with 15-20 years of experience mostly gained in the Permian Basin, to identify recompletion and stimulation potential as well as drilling of new wells. This professional is expected to have a strong reservoir engineering background, familiar with the completion and stimulation practices for various formations of the area. This individual is expected to work on improving the performance of existing water floods and set up new ones as needed.
These two professionals along with other company staff make up an exploitation team for the Permian; these jobs are located in Houston, Texas.
