History of the PBGS: 1983-84
OFFICERS:
PRESIDENT: Edward Bean (The Superior Oil Co.)
FIRST VP: Jimmy Stovall (Monsanto Co.)
SECOND VP: Jerry Tilley (Consultant)
SECRETARY: Jay Carman (Dawson Geophysical Co.)
TREASURER: Elvin Hoffman (Enserch Exploration Inc.)
In 1984 discussions were begun with the SEG to co-sponsor the Midwest Regional Meetings due to the increasing complexities of operations, timing, exhibits, insurance, etc. This proposal was initiated by the SEG as best I can determine.
Somehow Jay Carman found time to put the membership list on his home computer and now we have lists-and lists-and lists--
Consideration was given to purchase of a new sound system for our general meetings. Possibly a bit overdue??
Membership in 1984 was 615 with 408 being Active or Associate SEG members. PBGS hosted the 37th Midwestern Exploration Meeting and preparation for this dominated the efforts of officers and volunteers during the Spring of 1984. Theme was Technology of the Eighties, and keynote speaker was SEG President, Tom LaFehr. Twenty papers were presented. Mayor Thane Akins still welcomed guests, and the sessions were held at Midland Center with registration headquarters at the Hilton Hotel.
