ORIGINAL RECAP: “The PBGS held its 23rd Annual Exploration Meeting on February 23, 1979, theme being “Ending a Decade of Progress”. Mr. T. Norman Crook, President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, was the keynote speaker.”

The Society continued to add to the geophysical reference section of the Midland County Public Library with Fred Uhrig still directing this program.

The Scholarship Committee awarded funds to 2 students, one attending the University of Texas at Austin and one at New Mexico Tech in Socorro.

For several years the Doodlebug Open announcement was being “enhanced” by the humorous sketches of Mort Thompson who drew two characters strongly resembling Ken Green and Jasper Fallis (the Aggie).
