John Northwood, President of the SEG, was keynote speaker. More than 500 delegates attended the meeting. A Continuing Education seminar on Electric Logging was presented by Schlumberger on January 18. Scholarships totaling $2000 were awarded to three geophysics students, and several books and periodicals were once again donated to the Midland County Library by the PBGS.”

A new meeting place had been found – the Best Western Motel on I-20. The restaurant provided a nice dining area and a good kitchen.

January, 1978, membership was 438!

Aitken, Chief of Exploration Division, Oil & Gas Section, Department of Energy. Mayor Angelo again welcomed guests to Midland.
