Permian Basin Geophysical Society

History of the PBGS: 1975-76

OFFICERS:

PRESIDENT: James D. Williams (Dresser Olympic)
FIRST VP: C. W. Holmstrom (J. W. Humbard & Assoc.)
SECOND VP: Don Huxman (Geophysical Service Inc.)
SECRETARY: Gene Gerhiser (Ray Geophysical Div.)
TREASURER: Bill Collins (Northern Natural Gas Co.)

ORIGINAL RECAP: “The 21st Annual Permian Basin Geophysical Society Exploration Meeting was held in April with the theme being “The Permian Basin-1976”. Keynote speaker was Robert B. Rice, President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. During the year, two scholarships were again awarded to two students who are majoring in geophysics. Honorary Life Memberships were awarded to John W. Daly and Lou G. Cornish”.

Attendance at meetings was again dropping off in spite of a strong membership roll. President Williams initiated a shift to noon meetings which were apparently more popular and the “luncheon” tradition survived for some time.
