In addition to continued support of the Permian Basin Graduate Center and the technical library, the Society contributed to, and lent technical support to, the formation of the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum, Library and Hall of Fame. Honorary Life Membership was awarded to C. N. Page, C. W. Payne and L. B. Park in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the PBGS”.

No transfers this year!!

The original recap covered most of the years highlight events. The SEG and others were still debating registration and certification of geophysicists. PBGS membership in July, 1972, was 215.

Activity was strong in the area of continuing education with lectures and workshops held in Midland. The regular monthly meetings, however were suffering a decline in attendance – most likely as a result of the constant moving about town in search of the elusive “ideal” place for the meeting.

The 18th Annual Meeting was held at the Westwood Cinema on Andrews Highway.
