ORIGINAL RECAP: The PBGS held its 12th Annual Exploration Meeting, May 6 and 7, using the theme Geophysics-Key to Tomorrows Oil. Over 300 registered for the session. An Honorary Life Membership was presented to Mr. Burton Hinton in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Geophysical Society.
The summer of 1964 was made more enjoyable when the Society sponsored a Midland Club poolside party and dance on Aug. 15. For $6.00 per couple, a buffet, punch and beer were provided. Music was by Bob Gaebert and his Gentlemen of Note plus Robin Campbell and Her Guitar. Both geologists and geophysicists attended.
The Society was still trying to settle on a place to hold their meetings and whether to have luncheon or dinner meetings. The two better choices in town were the Scharbauer Hotel - $1.53 lunch and $2.55 dinner, and the Elks Club - $1.40 lunch and $2.04 dinner. There was also a vote on cocktails at the evening meeting. The final choice seems apparent when the next meeting was held at the Elks Club with cocktails before dinner.
At the March, 1965, meeting Lou Cornish reported on a bill in the State Legislature on licensing of engineers that, as stated, would affect the geophysical industry.
An amendment to the Constitution was made to provide for voting by mail ballot.
