ORIGINAL RECAP: “In May, the Permian Basin Geophysical Society held their 8th Annual Exploration Meeting, using the topic “Economic and Political Events as Related to Oil Exploration”.

The PBGS was in its’ 10th full year and the SEG was celebrating their 30th Annual Meeting (now called “International”) in Galveston, Texas. The PBGS held their 8th Annual Meeting as noted above.

SEG sent a bulletin called the “SEG Newsletter” designed to report on local Section activities. The SEG also withdrew from the American Geological Institute in May, 1980.

In an effort to update and improve the directory the WTGS & PBGS membership had professional photos taken at the Midland County Library. Bernold M. Hanson was Directory Chairman.
