ORIGINAL RECAP: “Having become a sponsor of a student section at Texas Western College in 1956 the PBGS endeavored to assist their program efforts by recommending papers and speakers”.

Minutes of the March 5, 1957, meeting reveal that the event was held in the Midland Women’s Club building with 182 members present. William Browder (attorney) spoke on “The Geophysical Permit” and his talk was followed by the film “Hawaiian Volcanics”. The minutes don’t show that the meeting was ever adjourned – maybe someone should check the Women’s Club building??

The SEG National Convention was held in Dallas on Nov. 11-15.

The Texas Western College of the University of Texas at El Paso was trying to finance a seismograph station. They had a seismograph and $14,000 for housing, but needed $15-20,000 more funding. PBGS supported their efforts.

The Annual Meeting was held on May 17 & 18 at the Yucca Theater in downtown Midland.
