History of the PBGS: 1956

ORIGINAL RECAP: Initiated the first WTGS-PBGS Meeting.
Along with conducting business as usual during the year (monthly meetings, etc.), another big first event took place which was very time consuming and required the help of many members. On Friday and Saturday, May 11 & 12, 1956, the first joint meeting of the PBGS-WTGS was held in the Midland High School Auditorium. This was a sincere effort by the two groups to bring together the two disciplines and to encourage geologists and geophysicists to work together. The program which was presented is shown below:

Attendees were welcomed by officers of both Societies and by Mayor Ernest Sidwell. Lodging accommodations were available at the Scharbauer Hotel, Crawford Hotel, Triple D Motel, Kangaroo Courts, Desert Inn Motel, Silver Saddle Court and Kingsway Courts.
